A splash of Mozart

Remember the movie "Amadeus" about our favorite crazy composer Mozart? This guy has condensed the movie into the 5-second Cliff Notes version. I got a nice chuckle out of it.

See more of this guy's condensed movies here - many of them are quite entertaining.

These Rollers Gotta Get Paid

The Bay City Rollers (named when they threw a dart in a map and hit Bay City, MI, my hometown) are suing Arista Records for millions dating over the last 25 years. I guess that's one way to stay in the news after so long.

So can I officially be called a Smartass now?
Scientists have uncovered the first concrete evidence that playing music can significantly enhance the brain and sharpen hearing for all kinds of sounds, including speech.

"Experience with music appears to help with many other things in life, potentially transferring to activities like reading or picking up nuances in tones of voices or hearing sounds in a noisy classroom better," researcher Nina Kraus, a neuroscientist at Northwestern University, told LiveScience.

REM & VH get a Hall Pass

Two of the biggest rock bands of the 1980s took different paths to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on Monday — indie favorites R.E.M. with a happy reunion and party band Van Halen with a fragmentary turnout.

Otherwise, the hall took on a New York flavor with the girl group sound of Spanish Harlem's the Ronettes, downtown poet Patti Smith and South Bronx's Grandmaster Flash, the first hip-hop act so honored.
